WOMEN THE IMAGE OF THE CHURCH

Would God have you lie, to save yourself?IMAGES OF THE CHURCHwoman created

The New Testament contains a number of symbolic images meant to represent or re  present, the people of God, all of which independently and collectively reveal some significant things about what the church is meant to be. Most of these have their origin in the Old Testament.
  1. The Bride of Christ.
This metaphor speaks of his great love for the church (Mark 2:18-20; John 3:29; Romans 7:1-4; 2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 5:22-33; Revelation 19:7; 21:2*)
  1. Vine or Vineyard.
The emphasis here is on the need of the members to maintain a close relationship with Christ if they are to be fruitful (John 15:1-8; Mark 12:1-12)*. *Psalm 80:8-19; Isaiah 5:1-7.
  1. Flock
Jesus is the Good Shepherd (John 10:11), the Great Shepherd (Hebrews 13:20) and the Chief Shepherd (1 Peter 5:4) who knows and watches over his sheep and gives his life for them. They know his voice and follow him (Luke 12:32; John 10:1-16; 27, 28; Acts 20:28, 29;                      1 Peter 5:2-4)*. * Psalm 77:20; 80:1.
  1. Kingdom
It is the kingdom of God’s beloved Son (Colossians 1:13), a kingdom of “righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:17) in which he exercises his rule in his people through the Spirit*. *Exodus 19:6; Psalm 95:3.
  1. Household or Family
This is the most pervasive metaphor for the church in the New Testament. The Fatherhood of God is constantly in view, whose children we become by faith in Jesus Christ and receiving the Spirit (Galatians 3:26; 4:6, 7). Baptism is the symbol of our adoption into the family of the triune God (Matthew 28:19). “Brother” or “brethren” (sisters included!) is the most common word for Christians in the letters of the New Testament. Jesus is our elder brother (Romans 8:29; Hebrews 2:10-18).* *The Fatherhood of God is only dimly viewed in the Old Testament. Israel is named God’s son (Hosea 11:1) and occasionally God is likened to a Father (e.g. Psalm 68:5; 103:13).
  1. Building or Temple
God’s people are a building “not built by human hands” (2 Corinthians 5:1) which God is constructing. The Old Testament temple has become the people in whom he now dwells by his Spirit, Jesus Christ being the foundation or cornerstone (1 Corinthians 3:11, 16; Ephesians 2:20-22). Individual Christians are stones built into this temple (1 Peter 2:4-8).
  1. Body
This is the most prominent image in Paul’s letters and the only one with no Old Testament equivalent. Christ the Head rules and nourishes the Body, its only head, and the Holy Spirit is the breath to animate it. There is a strong emphasis on the relationship of all the members of the body, diversity and equality within unity, as we have seen above. Every member is to be a functioning member (e.g. Ephesians 2:22, 23; 4:4, 15, 16). If there is anything common to these images of the church it is relationships. In each image the stress is either on God’s gracious initiative as Husband, King, Father, Builder, etc., or on his people as a community, both in relation to him as his bride, flock, family, body, etc., and in relation to each other as branches in the same vine, sheep in the same flock, children in the same family, members of the same body. In every instance there is only one church. From God’s perspective, all who have received the Spirit are members of it, whether they acknowledge it or not. It is “the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven” (Hebrews 12:23).

ESTABLISHING THE MATTER

One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established[i].  Every word shall be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses[ii].  All scripture is given by inspiration of GOD, and is profitable for doctrine, for rebuke, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of GOD may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works[iii].

THE CONTEXT QUESTION

Context: what is it? Context is what makes understanding possible. We establish context by everything that we and the person or persons we are speaking with bring to the conversation. When examining the Holy Scriptures, GOD has already embedded HIS “context” through HIS Commandments, Precepts, and laws and has clearly instructed the reader not to add or take away from scripture under penalty of the perpetrators, inheriting all of the plagues of Revelation and having his or her  name removed from the book of life, and out of the Holy City and from the things that are written in prophetic promises throughout the Bible to the saints of God (Revelation 20:18, 19). There can be no interpretation of scripture, that is in contradiction to GOD’s established standards, a simple formula that represents this process is (Pre-Text + Post-Text + Text = Context).

USING THE WORLD’S LOGIC

Often we as believers make the mistake of using the worlds logic and wisdom to establish context in scripture, why we do this is beneath all that is HOLY, for GOD clearly says through inspiration in 1 Corinthians 3:19 “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness;” A formal education, that is not supported by a personal relationship with GOD, that is not established in personal obedience  to the LORD as expressed in HIS Commandments, renders one spiritually immature and unable to establish what GOD has determined to be right and what GOD has determined to be wrong. This can be seen in Isaiah 28:9-10 ” Isaiah 28: 9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. 10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.” Man is not justified through his eloquent speech or through gut feelings or emotions, justification is in the “WORD”, justification is in Christ Jesus only, as it is written, “THAT THOU MIGHTEST BE JUSTIFIED IN THY SAYINGS, AND MIGHTEST OVERCOME WHEN THOU ART JUDGED.” -Romans 3:4

quote-let-us-hear-the-conclusion-of-the-whole-matterTHE INSPIRED WILL OF GOD FOR THE BODY OF CHRIST

As it has pleased GOD, GOD has set the members every one of them in the body[iv]. If these members were the same, where is the body[v]? Those members of the body, which seem to be weaker, are necessary[vi]. Moreover, those members of the body, which we think to be less- honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor, and our ill-favored unappealing parts have beauty that is more abundant[vii]. For our beautiful parts have no need, but GOD has arranged the body together, having given more abundant honor to that part which desires more honor, from the body[viii]. GOD did these things that there should be no division in the body, but that the members should have the same care one for another[ix].

Moreover, where one member suffers, all the members suffer with that member. On the other hand, where one member is honored, all the members rejoice in honor with it[x].  There is Jew and Greek, bond and free, there is male and female, all by faith through the blood of Jesus, make up the body of Christ as members in particular[xi].  In addition, GOD has set some in the CHURCH, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments and diversities of tongues[xii].

Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles[xiii]? Have all the gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret[xiv]? Desire earnestly the gifts that bring the body the greatest honor, and the LORD will show you a more excellent way[xv].

WHAT IS THE CHURCH?The Church

The English word “CHURCH” is derived from the Greek word Kyriako’s “belonging to the LORD,” or more specifically, Kyriakē oikia “belonging to the house of the LORD.” In the Old Testament, the Hebrew word Qāhāl designates an assembly either religious or secular.

In the New Testament Greek there is only one word that is translated CHURCH in the Bible, the same word translates as CHURCHES in the NEW STRONG’s EXHAUSTED CONCORDANCE OF THE BIBLE, the rendering of EK-KLAY-SEE’-AH (Greek 1577), as the word CHURCH occurs ninety times and the rendering of EK-KLAY-SEE’-AH, as the word CHURCHES occurs thirty-six times. On one occasion in the book of Acts 19:37 the word CHURCHES, is rendered as (Greek 2417) -HEE-ER-OS’-OO-LOS.

truthGOD’S INSPIRATION FOR WOMEN IN THE CHURCHES

In examining this section, special attention was used to identify the use of words like, “CHURCH”, “CHURCHES”, “PREACH”, “TEACH”, “PROPHET”, “PROPHETESS” “OVERSEER”, “BISHOP”, “PASTOR”, “DISCIPLE”, “APOSTLE”, and  “DEACON”. Special attention is applied to the dialog surrounding these topics as to ascertain Divine Intent, and remove all ambiguity of text, which often leads to speculation(s), that lead to confusion and we know, GOD is not the author of confusion[xvi].  We must ever be mindful that there are lying spirits in the land, sent forth to persuade and prevail[xvii]. In the fear of GOD we must seek GOD for the the truth, remembering that the secret things belong unto the LORD our GOD, and those things which are revealed belong  unto us and our children for ever, that we may do all the words of HIS law[xviii], for GOD knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with HIM[xix].

tree by the fruitKNOWING THE TREE

Based upon the authorities sited above, that clearly address specific behavior in the CHURCHES, when we see men appointed to be watchman for GOD allowing women to function in ways contrary to scripture, and women preaching and teaching in the CHURCH, it doesn’t take a genius to recognize that this is heresy, spiritual rebellion! When the fruit is rebellious, so is the tree.

In fact Paul as the Holy Spirit was inspiring him to write the will of GOD regarding this specific matter stated in 1 Corinthians 14:37(KJV) “If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the LORD.

THERE IS NEITHER MAIL NOR FEMALE IN CHRIST JESUSwompope

Galatians 3:28 states, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” Does this scripture liberate women to hold positions of leadership in the CHURCH, which were once exclusively held by men?

We quote scriptures all the time, but have you ever noticed how scriptures are hinged together, in a way that effectively concludes one point, while effectually beginning the next?

(AUTHORITY) 1 Corinthians 11 - For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of GOD:  but the woman is the glory of man[xx].  For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man[xxi]. Neither was the man created for the woman, but the woman for the man[xxii]. Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the LORD[xxiii].  For as the woman is OF the man, even so is the man also BY the woman, but all things of GOD[xxiv].

                                                OF vs. BY?

OF Expressing the relationship between a (part, member) and a whole (body).

                                                     VS.

BY  Indicating the means by which something manifest.

A great example of this is seen in 1 Corinthians 14, The LORD begins by instructing HIS children to follow charity (compassion, help, support). Then the LORD begins to describe the gifts of the spirit, emphasizing that these gifts are to be administered in charity and then these ideas are hinged together with verse 33 “For GOD is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. The very next verse states, “Let the women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.”

CONSIDER THIS, the LORD has not changed topics, HE is still addressing spiritual gifts. Only now, instead of addressing the spirit of the giver, HE is speaking directly to the gift, about the spirit of being a gift. “The LORD GOD said, it is not good that man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.[xxv]  1 Corinthians 11:7, “but the woman is the glory of man.” Was women meant to be the embodiment of the spirit of charity (compassion, help, support) specifically for man?

helpsTHE MINISTRY OF THE HELP MEET

Women of GOD, dress yourselves in modest clothing, with down cut eyes, bashfulness towards men, reverence for GOD and self-discipline[xxvi]; not with hair fashioned in ponytail, pigtail, plait, or braids[xxvii], or decorated with gold or pearls, or expensive attire which does not suit women professing godliness; instead let the women come decorated in good works[xxviii].

Let the women learn in quietness with all subjection, the LORD does not permit a woman to teach, nor assume authority over the man, but to be in quietness[xxix]. This is your reverence for your heritage, remembering Adam was first formed, then Eve. Moreover, Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression[xxx]. In spite of the woman’s transgression, she shall be saved in childbearing, provided she submit in all the conditions of a woman’s life, by continuing in faith and charity  and obedience to all of the commandments of GOD with self-discipline[xxxi].

You are commanded to speak those things that are in accord with the Holy Scriptures[xxxii]. So that the mature women are recognized for their self-disciplined, identified as necessary members of the body, acknowledged as peaceable women, knowing the difference between right and wrong, celebrated for their compassion, renowned as helpers, and famous for their support of the body, while honored for their patience[xxxiii].

Likewise, the mature women should maintain behavior that represents Holiness. Holiness is not a false accuser, Holiness is not given to drunkenness of wine, and women who live as examples of good things represent Holiness[xxxiv]. The mature women must live as examples of Holiness; so that the young women will respect them, that the mature women may teach the young women to be clear-headed, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, to be faithful to the faith, to be keepers at home, good. Obedient to their own husbands, that the word of GOD be not blasphemed[xxxv].

Women of GOD teach the younger women, to teach their children or grandchildren to care for the widows in their families. Teach them first to learn to show godliness to their own household and to make some return to their parents, for this is pleasing in the sight of GOD[xxxvi].  Teach the younger women that a true widow, has her hope on GOD and continues in supplications and prayers night and day[xxxvii], but she who is self-indulgent is dead even while she lives[xxxviii].

Women of GOD teach the young women the laws concerning the widow, let a widow be financially supported by the CHURCH if she is not less than sixty years of age, having been the wife of one husband[xxxix], and having a reputation for good works. If she has brought up children, has shown hospitality, has washed the feet of the saints, has cared for the afflicted, and has devoted herself to every good work[xl]. Women of GOD teach the younger women that the CHURCH is to refuse to financially support younger widows, for when their passions draw them away from Christ; they desire to marry[xli] and so incur condemnation for having abandoned their former faith[xlii].

Women of GOD teach the young widows, women and children that they learn not to be freeloaders, going about from house to house, and not only freeloading, but also gossips and busybodies, saying what they should not[xliii]. Encourage the younger widows to marry, bear children, manage their households, and give the adversary no occasion for slander[xliv]. Women of GOD teach the younger women, that if any believing woman has relatives, who are widows, let her care for them. Let the CHURCH not be burdened, so that it may care for those who are truly widows[xlv].

jesus-with-children-0410THE REVELATION OF JESUS TO THE                    CHURCHES REGARDING WOMEN

I know your works, and charity, and service, and faith, and your patience and your works, and Your works to be more than your patience[xlvi].

Notwithstanding I have a few things against you, because you have permitted that woman

Without Husband[xlvii] who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit disruption[xlviii] in MY HOLY MEETINGS[xlix], and to utilize offensive doctrines suitable to idols. This is not permitted, and I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not[l].

WATCH, I will cast her into a bed, and those that I have appointed over MY CHURCH that enable her, them to will I cast into GREAT TRIBULATION, except they repent of their deeds[li].  And I will kill her children with death, and all the Churches shall realize that I am HE which judges the wills and hearts, and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. BUT unto you I say, as many as has not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak, I will put upon you none other burden, but that you hold fast till I come[lii].

He that overcomes the influences by keeping my commandments, the same will be clothed in honor, and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before MY FATHER, and before HIS angels[liii].

STRONG DELUSIONS SENT BY GOD

(Authority 2 Thessalonians)delusions

Now, dear brothers and sisters,[a] let us clarify some things about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and how we will be gathered to meet him. Don’t be so easily shaken or alarmed by those who say that the day of the Lord has already begun. Don’t believe them, even if they claim to have had a spiritual vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from us. Don’t be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness[b] is revealed—the one who brings destruction.[c] He will exalt himself and defy everything that people call god and every object of worship. He will even sit in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God.

Don’t you remember that I told you about all this when I was with you? And you know what is holding him back, for he can be revealed only when his time comes. For this lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back steps out of the way. Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, but the Lord Jesus will kill him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by the splendor of his coming. This man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles. 10 He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them. 11 So God will cause them to be greatly deceived, and they will believe these lies. 12 Then they will be condemned for enjoying evil rather than believing the truth.

images (3)Believers Should Stand Firm

13 As for us, we can’t help but thank God for you, dear brothers and sisters loved by the Lord. We are always thankful that God chose you to be among the first[d] to experience salvation—a salvation that came through the Spirit who makes you holy and through your belief in the truth. 14 He called you to salvation when we told you the Good News; now you can share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15 With all these things in mind, dear brothers and sisters, stand firm and keep a strong grip on the teaching we passed on to you both in person and by letter. 16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, 17 comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.
